The countdown has officially begun as organisers of the Nigerian Broadcasters Merit Awards (NBMA) announced that the highly anticipated ceremony will hold on Saturday, October 10, at the Oriental Hotel, Lagos.
Widely regarded as one of Nigeria’s foremost platforms for celebrating excellence in broadcasting, this year’s edition is already shaping up to be bigger, bolder, and more impactful. As part of the preparation for the event, organisers have issued a final call for nominations across various award categories, encouraging media organisations, industry stakeholders, and members of the public to submit deserving entries before the nomination deadline.
Adding fresh excitement to the build-up, the organisers has also officially opened registration for the maiden edition of the Next Broadcast Star Challenge, a talent discovery initiative aimed at identifying, mentoring, and spotlighting the next generation of broadcasters and media personalities in Nigeria.
The initiative is expected to create opportunities for aspiring on-air talents while strengthening the future of the country’s broadcast industry. Beyond the award ceremony itself, NBMA organisers have also lined up an impressive schedule of activities designed to promote youth engagement, media excellence, and industry collaboration.
Among the key pre-event programmes is the Ambassador Olusola Annual Lecture, alongside campus engagement sessions and networking events scheduled for July 21 at the University of Lagos (UNILAG); a Celebrity Football Match on July 30 at the Yaba College of Technology (YABATECH), bringing together media personalities and entertainment figures in a celebration of sports and community spirit.
Speaking on the upcoming edition, Group Chief Operating Officer of Cresthills Media Group and member of the NBMA Advisory Board, Adeolu Gboyega, described the platform as one that has evolved far beyond recognition.
“NBMA has grown beyond an award platform; it is now a movement dedicated to preserving broadcasting excellence while empowering the next generation of media professionals. The 7th edition promises to be impactful, inspiring, and unforgettable,” he said.
Since its inception, NBMA has continued to honour outstanding voices, celebrate professionalism, and preserve the legacy of broadcasting in Nigeria. With nominations underway, fresh talent initiatives unveiled, and exciting activities already lined up, expectations are high for what promises to be another memorable celebration of Nigeria’s broadcast industry.
Meanwhile, the organisers have urged nominees, sponsors, partners, and interested participants to follow NBMA’s official platforms for registration details, nomination updates, and event announcements.
