Pharaoh The 47 steps out with Drill Bop, Top Boy

Pharaoh

Pharaoh
Fast-rising rapper, Pharaoh the 47, has joined the league of Drill musicians within Nigeria’s music circle, with his recently-released mixtape dubbed, Top Boy.

In the 10-tracker tape, the J-town native, who is currently based in London, explores Drill music – a subgenre of Hip Hop, alongside other genres.

In the mixtape, Pharaoh seamlessly floats between deep melodic tempos to hard-hitting drill raps. He delves into discussions such as hustle and ambition, such as in the song, It Is Well, where he samples a gospel medley but converts it to drill and in the song, Pepper, where he gives a lecture on how to handle adversity. He asks for his supporters to keep on wishing the best on the prayerful bop, Pray For Me, before climaxing with Woah, where he talks about perseverance and gratitude.

The effortlessness and quality of the switches in genres, melodies and cadences make this project special and one to remember.
