When New Afrika Shrine hosted Ighodalo, Thompson, Okposo, GiG Time
The New Afrika Shrine was last Saturday lit up with gospel music and sermons as top gospel ministers including Pastors Ituah Ighodalo, Ladi Thompson, Sammie Okposo, Mike Abdul, Mike Aremu, SPAN, SOD, among others were hosted by Pastors Diran and Olufunmi Olajoyegbe of GiG Time Foundation.
It was indeed an unprecedented evening as the shout of ‘Jesus’ by regulars at the shrine rented the atmosphere. Over 100 people responded to the call to improve their lifestyle by accepting Jesus as Lord and saviour, after the sermon tagged, ‘Encounter at the Shrine’ by Pastor Ighodalo.
The event, organised by a Christian outreach group, GiG Time Foundation, aimed at ministering the love of Jesus Christ to regulars at the New Afrika Shrine. The atmosphere was ecstatic when Wellu Wellu master, Okposo led the audience to a wonderful experience of praise that made them totally forget themselves and focus on God.
Pastor Ighodalo of Trinity House held the crowd who had enjoyed several performances with his sermon, and urged them to embrace and accept Jesus. He prayed specially for those who decided to follow Jesus after his brief message.
“What transforms a man’s life is an encounter, what brings you from zero to hero is an encounter,” Ighodalo said, while thanking participants for turning up and their patience at the show
On the choice of the New Afrika Shrine for such Christian show, Okposo said: “The earth is the Lord’s and the fullness thereof. The gospel can be preached anywhere to win souls for Christ. It is the Holy Spirit that does the conversion, not man.”
The Pastor of the Unlimited Waters Ministry, Ladi Thompson, who also ministered in songs, particularly appreciated the Ransome-Kuti family for their contribution to Nigeria, and prayed for them before ministering in an Afrobeat fusion with highlife gospel song.
Saxophonist, Mike Aremu, got the atmosphere electrified with his brilliant performance, as Mike Abdul of the Midnight Crew fame, took the crowd through a session of high praise and worship.
According to the convener, Oladiran Olajoyegbe, “The event is an unprecedented full blown gospel outreach at the shrine, and by the grace of God, will also ignite the building of a passion for the gospel at venues like this. The encounter is aimed at demonstrating the joy of being in Christ, expressing the love of God and manifestation of his power.”
Other artistes who ministered at the event included the Society for the Performing Arts in Nigeria (SPAN) with Sarah Boulos, Spirit of David (SOD) with Pastor Segun Lawal, Iyebiye, DJ Mow, Jo Deep and ICE, who thrilled the audience with a painting on the stage.
Gifts were won at the start of the event, and then escalated into a keenly contested dance battle, which will be concluded at the next ‘Wajo’ Event.
