A Night In Bethlehe
The city of Port Harcourt is set to experience a grand musical dubbed A Night In Bethlehem. Holding next weekend, the show, which will be staged at the Dome Event Centre, will feature performances from top-rated choirs across the country.

Residents of the garden City are set to enjoy exciting performances from veterans such as Ben Ogbeiwi of Project Fame Africa/Hymnodia, Jude Nwankwo of J-Clef Chorale, Danlami Baba-Angelo of University of Nigeria, as well as Benafa Zity of Green Chamber Chorale. The Opera is themed on the Nativity of Jesus Christ. Among some of the performances to look out for is the rendition of Laz Ekwueme’s work, which would be directed by Ikechukwu Eseka of Chorale De la Magnifique (CMD).

Other artistes taking part in the concert include Chidi Maduabuchi of La Reve Chorale and Stella-Maris Orih of CMD/Lumen Christi Choir of the Catholic Institute of West Africa (CIWA), Stella-Maris Orih. Also participating in the show are the Lagos, Abuja, Asaba, Uyo and Port Harcourt.

According to Eseka, who is also the Grand Coordinator, A Night In Bethlehem, “aside its musical, religious and historical content, it touches on some family issues. It depicts the character of women, who take advantage of their husbands’ weaknesses. Simon, a forgetful husband of a money-conscious hotelier, is dealt with by his domineering wife, who goes to the extent of giving out his (Simon) room to customers.”
