With love, Dolapo Osinbajo steps out for Aisha Buhari
Call them Siamese Twins and you could be hitting the nail on the head. So intensely hot is Nigeria’s First Lady, Aisha Buhari, and Dolapo Osinbajo’s closeness that you would see them together in most official and sometimes social functions.
The recent wedding of Hanan Buhari at the Presidential Villa in Abuja was another testament of their love and friendship, as Dolapo was visible all through the ceremony to support Aisha.
Even before now, they have shared joy together. For starters, both have daughters who got married since they came to power. The relative quietness with which the weddings were celebrated also impressed many Nigerians, with no superordinate-subordinate in the relationship between these two beautiful, gorgeous and elegant women, who share a unique bond and have managed to cultivate a friendship that is appealing to millions of Nigerians.
The duo have literally become a talking point for women. Recall sometime ago, when Dolapo marked her birthday, as expected messages flooded the social media, but one that caught the eyes was Aisha’s message. Her tone was different: “Happy birthday to my dear sister, Dolly. Wishing you many more years in happiness and good health.”
It doesn’t seem like that has ever happened between any Nigerian First Lady and the Vice President’s wife. It is more like a message from a close friend to another or like some put it, sister to sister. They have both proven to be inspiring mothers, wives and humanitarians.
They have not allowed the perks of office overwhelm them. If anything, they have helped their husbands.
Dolapo has developed a bond with Aisha and those close to them say despite the difference in culture, background and religion, they have bonded and become best friends, with some similarities too.
Both women have never encouraged sycophancy at both personal and public levels. No state in Nigeria has been shut down on account of Aisha or Dolapo visiting.
Also, not many know that Dolapo also represents Aisha at a handful of events across the country, because there is no noise about it. They both have championed health care campaigns and improvement in girl-child education.
Aisha and Dolapo have both identified maternal and child mortality as serious health challenges that require support from all quarters. For once, the age-old belief that top women don’t get along well is being eroded with the relationship of these two great women.
