Reggae legend, Majek Fasek has stated that he did not go to rehab last year but had a spiritual rebirth. The ‘Rain Maker’ as he is fondly called mad this known during an interview on Your View, a breakfast show on Television Continental (TVC).
“It was wrong to say I was taken to a rehab; I only went into seclusion for spiritual rebirth,” he told the presenters of the show.
It was gathered that last August Fashek was taken to rehab by his close friends and concerned individuals. His treatment at an Abuja based rehab, Synapse Services Centre For Psychological Medicine was sponsored by oil baron Ayiri Emami.

Speaking at a press conference in Abuja, the music icon in company of Charles Oputa a.k.a Charly Boy, his former backup singer, Monica Omorodion Swaida, and treatment specialists advised youths to stay away from drugs. He confirmed that he was in rehab for treatment for drug and alcohol addiction.

“People should stop the use of alcohol and drugs because being drunk will end up destroying your career and your plans for the future. Coming to the rehab is not a bad idea because I realised that I am addicted to alcohol and it was beginning to affect my output and what I enjoy doing and decided to seek for help. I am not the first singer or person that will go to the rehab; most renowned celebrities we know today go to rehabilitation centres to cool their memory,” Fashek told the press men.
It will be recalled that Monica Omorodion Swaida, began raising funds for rehab, and after the rehab stint, Fashek has been giving rave performances in organised shows across the country.
