Ayo Ademilua: Lightening up the nation, boosting social and commercial activities

In Nigeria, regular supply of quality electric power is not only a luxury but a lever that defines progress and stagnation. It is the determinant of how trade and commerce should operate, and other social activities, including academics and healthcare delivery.

For Mr Ayo Ademilua, this reality is not abstract. It is, indeed, personal, and no way the driving force behind his leadership at A4&T Power Solutions Limited, a renewable energy company committed to delivering reliable power solutions to Nigeria’s unserved and underserved communities, MSMEs, and commercial and industrial organisations.

Under his leadership, A4&T has evolved from a solar installer or service provider. The company has become a catalyst for positive change for energy independence, businesses, and sustainable growth. The true impact of A4&T’s work is best felt in the way the end users of its product are getting the worth of their money and commending their services.

Almost a decade after delivering its first mini-grid project, it has never relented in its effort to surpass its former successes in all areas of its services. The result of that epoch-making event was legendary, as it had immediate effects on the end users, especially on social and commercial activities.

Regular supply of quality electricity brings joy to the people, boosts nightlife, security and commerce. It enables businesses to extend their work hours, leading to an increase in productivity that brings encouraging rewards.

In fact, it is a universal truism that reliable energy restores dignity and unlocks economic potential; this has been played out in Nigeria. And since the company has witnessed this shift, stopping at one community is not an option.

For Ademilua to visualise and implement this vision depends on a strong professional foundation that blends financial discipline with deep sector expertise.

Armed with a first degree in accounting, followed by a master’s in business administration, specialising in finance, the electricity man sets out to make a change in his sector.

With over 26 years of experience that spans finance and renewable energy, Ademilua understands that energy challenges are not only technical: they include financial, operational, and structural snags.

Delivering sustainable power solutions requires more than engineering. It demands viable financing models, disciplined execution, long-term maintenance systems, and above all, trust. His leadership reflects this integrated understanding.

Beyond A4&T, Ademilua plays a significant role in shaping Nigeria’s renewable energy landscape. He is currently the President of the Renewable Energy Association of Nigeria (REAN), where he works closely with policymakers, investors, and industry stakeholders to accelerate renewable energy deployment nationwide. He is also on the Advisory Board of Solar Market Place, a Netherlands Government initiative that is focused on strengthening Nigeria’s renewable energy ecosystem. He is also a member of the Nigeria Wind Energy Council (NWEC). He was the former Vice-chairman and Board Member of the Africa Minigrid Developers Association (AMDA).

Through these platforms, he is contributing to advancing policy reform, improving investment frameworks, and promoting sustainable business models that can scale energy access across the country.

He is an alumnus of Lagos Business School (EDC), the Oxfam Business Development Programme, and Stanford Business School’s SEED Transformation Programme. Knowledge acquired from these institutions has further helped him to shape his strategic and transformational leadership approach.

At a time when energy access remains one of Nigeria’s most pressing challenges, Ademilua emerged as a new generation of African CEOs that is redefining leadership in emerging markets. He depicts leaders who combine commercial discipline with social impact and pragmatically execute long-term developmental goals.
