10 teams celebrate as ecofitness debuts with basketball slam competition

Physical fitness outfit, Ecofitness Hub, at the weekend in Lagos, Lagos, added basketball to its menu with the maiden Eco Fitness Basketball Slam.

The basketball tourney, which featured 10 teams, including Estate Kings, Mainland Rockets, NPA Warriors, Police Batons, Rapid Counters, Reapers, River Dragons, Lere Vets, LXB and Dream Team, offered an exciting look at the future of Nigerian basketball.

After hours of intense battle, Mainland Rockets emerged champions of the competition with Police Baton coming second. For their efforts, Mainland Rockets got N150, 000, while Police Baton took home N100, 000, just as other participating teams received various consolation prizes.

The major highlight of the competition, sponsored by Loft and Keys, Bimz Lounge, Fresh Baked Confectioneries and supported by Abimbola Yenekunme Ajose, was the presentation of awards for Most Valuable Players (MVPs) won by David Arum of Mainland Rockets and Malu Williams of Police Baton.

Located in Buena Vista Estate, Orchid Road in Lekki area of Lagos, Ecofitness Hub is tops among fitness and complete healthy lifestyle outfits.

Flaunting a gymnasium, football pitch, basketball court, lawn tennis court, volleyball court, chess games, barbecue spot, laundry, lounge, supermarket and children’s playground, among others, the promoters said there are plans already to make the basketball competition a quarterly event.

The next edition, scheduled for August, promises to be more exciting and bigger. The August edition will feature an increase in the number of participating teams from 10 to 16 teams.

The Ecofitness Hub is open to the public daily for fitness enthusiasts willing to step up their fitness routine.
