A total of 12 Oil and Gas companies have keyed into the Asaba 2022 National Sports Festival, which will hold from November 2 to 15 this year.

Chief executive officer of Nilayo Sports Management, Bukola Olopade, who is a member of the Local Organising Committee (LOC) for the sports festival, told The Guardian, yesterday, that all major companies that deal in oil and gas in the Niger Delta region have shown interest in sponsoring the Asaba 2022 sports festival, which will be the biggest gathering of Nigerian sportsmen and women this year.

“Members of the LOC, Nilayo Sports Management and the Ministry of Oil and Gas in Delta State held a meeting with some key companies in the South South region, and 12 of them have agreed to be part of Asaba 2022 Sports Festival. We have other sponsors in the banking sector, construction, beverage companies and others,” he stated.

Olopade said the names of the sponsors would be unveiled to the public in mid June.

The mascot and logo for the Sports Festival was unveiled in Asaba on April 7, where the LOC Chairman, Patrick Ukah, said the 21st National Sports Festival would bring enduring memories as the best ever since its inception in 1973.

This year’s edition will be the first time perennial champions, Delta State, is hosting the Games and Governor Ifeanyi Okowa has promised that his administration would do everything possible to give Nigerian youths the best ever games from November 2 to 15, particularly, in the area of facilities.
