Rangers International FC, Enugu on Saturday vowed to beat Sunshine FC, Akure to pick three-points in order to regain its leadership position at the Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL).

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the Rangers versus Sunshine match-day 36 encounter had been scheduled to take place on Sunday at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, Enugu at 4 p.m.

Rangers Media Director, Foster Chime told NAN in Enugu “the match against Sunshine is a must win game’’.

He said that the match would boost the chances of the club in winning the league trophy after so many years.

Chime said that fans and supporters of the club had been encouraging the players to go all out for a win.

“Rangers’ team captain, Okey Odita, as well as other players such as Etim Mathew, Chibuzor Madu and Christian Madu have also assured that Sunday’s match would be a must win game.

“The players vowed that they would not compromise on the maximum three points and three goals at stake,’’ he said.

The media director said that victory against Sunshine FC was not negotiable as the win would help boost leadership of the NPFL as well as push toward securing the league shield.

“The club has insisted that winning this season’s league trophy is a must in order to show appreciation to the sport-loving Governor of Enugu State, Mr Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi.

“The governor has spared nothing in ensuring that players are well taken care of as well as motivating the team financially since assumption of office.’’

NAN recalls that Ugwuanyi has provided financial motivation, moral and physical support to the team as well as attend their home matches.

Sports analysts said that the governor’s action had been instrumental to the home victories recorded by the club.

Rangers FC is currently placed second on the NPFL table log with 54 points from 33 matches, two points behind present leader, Rivers United FC, Port Harcourt.
