Adebayo, Kim, Oboh excel at Lakowe Golf Club Championship

Wary of losing another title after failing on the 34th hole at the 2016 edition, Tunji Adebayo yesterday held his nerves to pick the 2017 Lakowe Club Championship.

Wary of losing another title after failing on the 34th hole at the 2016 edition, Tunji Adebayo yesterday held his nerves to pick the 2017 Lakowe Club Championship.

An excited Adebayo described his victory as ‘an honour,’ while praising his opponents for bringing out the best in him.“We had a great time and I am glad to have played with my group: I am happy to win this time,” he said.

Adebayo shot 76, 79 on each days of his 36 holes play to push Cobus Clasens by six strokes to the second position. Douglas Koebbe finished in third place leaving 2016 winner, Tim Ayomike in fifth place.

In the Ladies category, 16-year-old Georgia Oboh carded the best score to lift the title. She fired 75, 71 (146) four over par gross, beating Fatumata Soukouna to the second place with Ndili Njide picking the third place.

Kim Tau Chul returned with the best score in the veteran’s category, returning 156 gross score after 36 holes for the event. He beat Tack Kim Byung and Voka Mukoro to second and third positions respectively.

Speaking at the end of the event, Director of Lakowe Golf Estate, Elliot Campbell said his team and the management was delighted to host the player to the last club event for the golfing year.

“It is our pleasure to be year all year round keeping this facility in the great shape that it is known for.“We are grateful for our sponsors for their support through the year,” he said.
