Adorable Angels, Imo Grasshoppers, Safety Babes, Safety Shooters, Niger United and Confluence Stars recorded victories in yesterday’s Day Two fixtures of the ongoing Prudent Energy Handball Premier League at the MKO Abiola National Stadium in Abuja.  

In the female’s opening game played yesterday, the highflying Imo Grasshoppers again won their match when they subdued Edo Dynamos 25-18 in a highly entertaining contest. The defeat marked the first loss for the highly rated Dynamos girls, who won their first meet against Confluence Queens.

In the second game, defending champion, Adorable Angels humbled Defenders Babes 30-29 in a close contest to the delight of the fans. New comers, Bayelsa Queens suffered 19-27 loss to Safety Babes, while Seasider Babes beat Kada Queens 20-19 and Confluence Queens succumbed 18-22 to Plateau Peacocks’ superiority.

In the male class, hard fighting Niger United inflicted Plateau Vipers 31-23 their second loss of the tournament, while duel between Kano Pillars and D Defenders ended 22-22, as Rima Strikers walked over COAS Shooters and Police Machine lost 23-31 to Lagos Seasiders.

Other games are the defending champions, Safety Shooters bashed Kada Stars 33-19, while Luck, however, ran out against newcomer, Tojemarine Academy, who began their journey in the premier league by surprisingly beating Rima Strikers in their debut match. The Academy was whipped 21-27 by the Confluence Stars.

Speaking on his team’s win against Plateau Vipers in yesterday’s duel, Niger United’s coach, Yinka Adebayo, said his players are in top shape for the league.

“My team is built on technique and speed and not physicality. So, we need to train hard always to be able to be in top shape,” he said.

In today’s fixtures, Bayelsa Queen will tackle Confluence Queens in Day Three fixtures, Imo Grasshoppers battle Defenders Babes, Seasiders Babes take on Edo Dynamos, and Plateau Peacocks meet Safety Babes.

In the male class, COAS Shooters will slug it out with Tojemarine Academy, Kada Stars will square up with Kano Pillars, Confluence Stars take on Niger United and Police Machine will clash against Safety Shooters.
