Indigenous kit manufacturing company, AFA Sports, has returned to the international scene after the giant strides it made at this year’s Tokyo Olympics, where it provided kits for Team Nigeria.

Indigenous kit manufacturing company, AFA Sports, has returned to the international scene after the giant strides it made at this year’s Tokyo Olympics, where it provided kits for Team Nigeria. This time the client is the Nigeria Police men’s hockey team, which featured at the just-concluded African Cup for Club.

The competition was held in Accra, Ghana, from November 24 to 30 with the Police team clothed in colourful AFA branded uniforms. The Nigeria Police Machine finished fourth overall on the table.

Although the kitting arrangement was one off between AFA and the Police officers, it is seen as an avenue to be their partner for other games and majorly the Police Games coming up in 2022.

The Nigeria Police Games is usually one of the biggest sporting events in the country, which produced such great Olympians as golden lady Chioma Ajunwa and the late Sunday Bada.

Nigeria Police also parade quality basketball, volleyball and football teams amongst others. Speaking on the deal, AFA Chief Executive Officer, Ugo Udezue, said the relationship is the start of many possibilities.
Udezue added: “It is clear that AFA Sports is dedicated to the growth of sports in Africa. This relationship also shows our commitment and relevance in all sporting games, which makes us the Face of African Sports.”

This week, the Nigeria Hockey Federation released a list of 60 invited athletes (men and women) and its coaching crew in preparation for the Africa Cup of Nations.

The Hockey teams are camping in Abuja in preparation for the Africa Cup of Nations scheduled for Accra, Ghana from January 17 to 23, 2022.

Nigeria will be hoping to improve its standing globally when it attends the 11th Men and Eighth Women Africa Cup of Nations following a successful outing by its clubs at the Africa Cup for Club Champions.

A high number of the players are from the Police Machine team, who attended the Africa Cup for Club Champions last month.

AFA Sports was the official kit partner to the Nigerian Olympic contingent to the Tokyo 2020 Games. The feat made AFA the very first indigenous African apparel company to kit a full contingent to the Olympics.
