The Golden Arrows of Nigeria, yesterday, continued their winning streak by recording a second victory after defeating their Senegalese counterparts in the placement match, at the ongoing 25th Africa Men’s Senior Handball Championship in Egypt.

The country’s representatives ensured that they made it two wins on the bounce after conquering Senegal 31 to 22 in an interesting encounter match-up.

The Coach Rafiu Salami-tutored team began the clash on a serious note, giving no room to their challenger, as they subdued them 13 to 9 to finish strong in the first half.

The Nigerian team went into the second half with a robust attack on their opponents to end the contest on high, by beating the Senegalese 31 to 22.

The Nigerians recorded their first win of the championship when they overwhelmed Zambia in their third match with a resounding 35 to 17 victory.

With the win, the country is favourably placed amongst countries participating in this year’s edition of the championship being hosted by Egypt.

The Golden Arrows lost 18 to 30 in their opener against Tunisia, and 29 to 35 to Cape Verde, and in the process unable to qualify for the quarterfinals, and a chance to pick a spot for the 2023 World Men’s Handball Championship holding in Poland, and Sweden.

It would be recalled that Nigeria has featured in 11 previous editions of the Africa Men Handball Nations, with its best outing being in the 1998 edition in South Africa, where it finished fourth best team.
