The regional auditions of the 2019 edition of the African Freestyle Football Championship, organized by Feet & Tricks International, will hold on Saturday at the Rowe Park Sports Complex, Yaba, Lagos.

According to the organisers, it will mark the kick of this competition, which started two years ago.

The Rowe Park event, meant for the South West Zone, is just for one day and it is a new dimension into the championship, they added.

Feet & Tricks International Chairman, Valentine Ozigbo said the organisers were aware that some of the talents might not be exposed to the online registration and therefore have designed other ways to get them involved.
Ozigbo said: “We will move round some of these areas where they play football in Ajegunle, Badagry, Orile Iganmu, Lekki, Surulere, Ijora and so on just to get the players and do on the spot registration for them. This was done last year and we will do so again just to boost the participation.

“Participation is free for all at www.feetandtricks.com but we expect that some others would join via our direct approach. We will do this in other zones as well.”

Three other regional competitions will take place where qualifiers for the final billed for Lagos in September will emerge.

Already, the registration for the event has exceeded that of last year, the organisers of the annual event said.
Ozigbo said he body was excited about the response of participants in Lagos.

“We are indeed very happy because so many participants are looking up to the event. It is just a day event but the huge number is now a challenge to us to contend with, “ Ozigbo said.

“This shows that we are recording more awareness for freestyle football in Nigeria and that is a big plus.”

The South South preliminaries will hold in Warri Centre (Brownhill Event Centre) on June 30, just as the South East zone will converge on at the Cubana Lounge, Owerri on July 5. Abuja Central Park is the venue for the Northern zone slated for July 13.

The finals of this year’s championship, which is sanctioned by the World Freestyle Football Association and fully endorsed by WFFA co-founder Daniel Wood, will take place at the Balmoral Convention Centre, Federal Palace Hotel, Lagos on September 14 and 15.
