Former Nigeria international midfielder, Daniel ‘Da Bull’ Amokachi, has revealed why he stepped down as the technical adviser of Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL), side, Lobi Stars.

Amokachi’s decision to quit his job was confirmed by the club after the 1-1 draw with Katsina United in a matchday 24 fixture at their new home, the Tafawa Balewa stadium in Bauchi.

Lobi Stars revealed the former Super Eagles star’s resignation was not announced because of the club’s trip to Ibadan last weekend where they were forced to a 2-2 draw by Shooting Stars in a matchday 25 game at the Lekan Salami stadium.

“We deliberately delayed announcing Amokachi’s resignation to avoid unnecessary distractions on the eve of our crucial NPPL March Day 25 match against 3SC,” the club wrote in a media statement made available by their Media Director Ujah Emmanuel.

Amokachi has come out to reveal why he decided to thrown in the towel after 19 games in charge as technical adviser. In a message he wrote to Lobi Stars’ chairman made available by the club, Amokachi says he decided to resign to save the club from going on relegation as all his efforts have failed to turn around the fortunes of the club that sits at the bottom of the NPFL log.

“Good evening, sir. I hope this meets you well. After a meeting with my mother and family, I regret to announce my resignation from the position of Technical Adviser of the team.

“I have given my all, but things are not going the way they are supposed to. The club is bigger than a brand or a Technical Adviser, and I feel I should step aside before it’s too late for the club to fight getting out of the red zone.

“I want to thank His Excellency, the entire Board members, coaches, backroom staff, players, as well as fans for their support,’ Amokachi was quoted to have written in the message. During Amokachi’s tenure, Lobi Stars played 19 matches, won three, drew seven, and lost nine games.
