Super Eagles forward, Ademola Lookman, will be eager to end a seven-game goal draught on Friday when Atalanta host Empoli in the Italian Serie A.

Lookman had started life in the Italian top-flight like a house on fire after he joined the Bergamo side on a permanent deal from German club, RB Leipzig, last summer.

The Nigerian international had struggled to make anything of his career at Leipzig from where he was loaned out to Fulham and Leicester City in the Premier League before a surprise move to Italy last July.

He scored on his debut against Sampdoria in Atalanta’s 2-0 win but later went six games without finding the back of the net upon which he went on a scoring spree after he got his groove back.

The 25-year-old has netted 12 goals for the club and was at a time in the running for the golden boot in the league.

However, it appeared the goals have suddenly dried up as the former Everton player last scored for his club in the league in January which was coincidentally against Sampdoria.

He has for the second time in his Atalanta career failed to score in six consecutive games.

Though, he has started 19 of the 26 matches he has featured in for the club this season, he was in action for a few minutes in the club’s 2-0 defeat to Napoli at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium.

After replacing Rafael Toloi in the 85th minute, he failed to put an end to his goal drought against Napoli.

Lookman has nevertheless scored twelve goals in 25 Serie A matches this very season alongside five assists while hitting the back of the net 14 times in 27 appearances across board.

He is also still the third leading scorer in the league behind compatriot Victor Osimhen (19 goals) and Inter Milan’s Lautaro Martinez (14 goals).
