Atseye, Igbinovia qualify for CBN Senior Tennis Championship

Top seed, Henry Atseye and Wilson Igbinovia, yesterday, qualified for the quarterfinals of the ongoing 44th CBN Senior Tennis Championship held at the Moshood Abiola Stadium, Abuja.

Top seed, Henry Atseye and Wilson Igbinovia, yesterday, qualified for the quarterfinals of the ongoing
44th CBN Senior Tennis Championship holding at the Moshood Abiola Stadium, Abuja.

Atseye dispatched Amos Michael, 6-1, 6-4, while Igbinovia edged out Isiaka Toriola 7-5, 6-1.

Also in the quarterfinals is Ikechukwu Iloputa, who fought hard to beat the former champion, Thomas Otu 7-6, 6-1.

Philip Abayomi is also through to the last eight of the men’s singles.

In the women’s singles, the top seed, Oyinlomo Quadre beat Jeusi Jesutoyosi 6-1, 6-1, while Ezeh Chidinma lost 6-4, 6-0 to Toyin Asogba.

According to today’s quarterfinals pairings, Atseye will meet Gabriel, while Iloputa tackles Wilson in the men’s category. High riding Marylove Edwards will face Quadre in what has been considered the battle of titans, just as Godgift goes up against Madueke.
