Beaten Sunshine Stars shift focus on NPFL

Players of Sunshine Stars of Akure say they have put behind them their exit from the Federations Cup, and are now focused on a better finish in the Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL).

Sunshine Stars were beaten 7-8 through a penalty shoot out by Akwa United in a Federation Cup round of 16 clash in Makurdi on Tuesday.

Speaking after the defeat, Team Captain, Abe Sunday, thanked the club’s management, led by Prince John Ola Mafo, the technical crew, under coach Solomon Ogbeide, and his colleagues for the good run in the league, saying they would now plot to finish strong in the NPFL and get a continental ticket.

The team’s technical adviser, Solomon Ogbeide, who appreciated the club management for showing understanding after the defeat, promised more hard work in a bid to realise the team’s ambition in the league.

“We are really grateful to the leadership of this club for the kind of love and understanding always shown at all times, the professional way of handling the affairs has seen us this far,” he said.

Sunshine Stars will this weekend meet Nasarawa United in an NPFL Week 27 at the Aper Aku Stadium, Makurdi.
