The Nigeria Scrabble Federation (NSF) has said that over 100 scrabble players from across Nigeria are expected to participate in the inaugural King of Champions Grand Master Scrabble Championship, which will hold from December 3 to 5 at the Prestige Hotel in Benin City, Edo State.

According to the NSF Vice President and Southsouth zonal representative, Bright Idahosa, the championship is organised to enable champions, who emerged from various scrabble tournaments in the country compete against one another to know the grand master of scrabble at home.

The tournament will attract the sum of N500, 000 as top prize for the winner. He said the championship would have upcoming scrabble players hone their skills.

“The scrabble king of champion is invitational event for all champions that have emerged from Nigeria to slug it out. Since the inception of professional scrabble in Nigeria, there has not been opportunity for Nigeria champions to compete against one another. The championship will assist in developing the game in the country, as we continue to maintain our dominance in the world of scrabble.”

“The tournament will also provide opportunity for the upcoming players that need wildcards to excel and develop in the game of scrabble. All Nigeria scrabble players are eligible to take part in the event,” he said.
