The vice Captain of Ibadan Golf Club, Brig-Gen Edward Lot has announced October 17 as the date for the newly initiated Patrons’ Cup Golf tournament introduced to foster better relationship among the two Ibadan based golf clubs, Tiger Golf Club and Ibadan Golf Club (IGC).

Speaking after winning the birthday kitty held at the Ibadan Golf Club to celebrate the 65th birthday of former Minister for Police Affairs, Chief Jelili Adesiyan, Brig gen Lot explained that the maiden Patron’s Cup will be held at the lush-green golf course of the Tiger Golf Club situated inside the Ojoo Military cantonment of the Second Division of the Nigerian Army on October 17, while this year’s annual Tiger Open will be hosted at the Ibadan Golf Club at a date to be announced soon.

At the birthday kitty, Gen Lot recorded 89 gross over 70 net to beat Brimmo C., who returned with 94 gross over 70 net, to end on the second position, while Evelyn Oyome won the ladies’ best net with 76 gross over 70 net.

The idea behind the Patron’s Cup, according to the vice Captain, who had been in the vanguard of fostering better relationship between the golf clubs that have the General Officer Commanding Second Division of the Nigerian Army (GOC), Major-General Anthony Omozoje, as its patron, is to further strengthen the cordiality among IGC members and Tiger Club members.

“All these arrangements are to strengthen the better relationship between these two great golf clubs that have the same person as their patron in the person of the Second Division of the Nigerian Army (GOC), Major-General Anthony Omozoje. And subsequently, this interchange arrangement for the venues of the two competitions will be sustained.

“I WAS seconded here to be the vice-captain of IGC by the GOC by virtue of being the father to the two clubs and all these initiatives is to better reinforce the improved relationship between these two golf clubs. Members of IGC should in large numbers attend competitions and kitties at the Tiger Golf Club, and vice-versa for Tiger members too,” said the military officer, who played off handicap 19.
