Civil Defence of Abuja and ASPAC of Benin Republic yesterday recorded victories in the women’s category of the ongoing Third Sam Ocheho/InnJoo Invitational Handball championship holding at the Rowe Park Sports Complex, Yaba.

The Defence Babes defeated the Seasiders’ girls 30 to 21, while ASPAC of Benin Republic humiliated Queens of Cote d’Ivoire 20-12 in the second match of the day to brighten their hopes of topping the table.

In the men’s category, Lagos Seasiders beat Idah Pillars 35 to 31 in an interesting match, which brought out the best in both teams.

Also victorious in the boys’ cadre was Delta Force, who defeated Sokoto Rima 25 to 24 in a very close and explosive game.

Speaking to The Guardian on his team’s performance, Defence Babes’ Head Coach, Sunday Ajala, said: “I will have to give God the glory because the win can be tied to Him after losing our last match.
