The Minister is expected to touch down in Uyo from Kaduna today and will be received in audience by Governor Udom Emmanuel. After the courtesy call, Dalung would be taken round sports infrastructure in the state, especially the model sports centre at West Itam Secondary School.

Dalung will also take another look at the home of the Super Eagles, the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, one of the best in the world. Yesterday, the draw ceremony of the festival was held amid pomp and pageantry with the Deputy Governor of the State ‘drawing the first blood.’

The Deputy Governor, Moses Ekpo, picked Ikot Abasi and Uyo as the two councils to kick off the football event during the opening ceremony tomorrow.

Attended by select secondary schools in the state, members of the State House of Assembly, Commissioners, Permanent secretaries Local Government Chieftains and top sports stars, including Enofiok Udobong and top Nollywood star, “Okon Lagos,” the Deputy Governor was grateful to Governor Emmanuel for the initiative that would ‘revolutionise school sports not only in the state but the country at large.’

He commended the ministries of sports and education for the initiative and asked the students to take advantage of the platform made available to them. The festival will feature all the 31 councils in the state with 15 sports in primary schools and 20 in secondary schools.
