Delta State Sports Commission, yesterday, wielded the big stick by sacking the coaching crew of Delta Queens FC, led by former coach of the National U-20 team (Falconets), Peter Dedevbo.
Delta Queens failed to qualify for both the Super Six at the end of the 2025 Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) after losing three home matches and some away games and the ongoing women’s FA Cup, losing their last match to Ibom Angels in Enugu.
A statement by the Director of Information and Public Relations of Delta Sports Commission, Franka Okonma, yesterday, stated that the entire structure of Delta Queens FC, including management board, coaching and playing personal were dissolved with immediate effect.
The decision, according to her, is part of the state’s strategic restructuring plan aimed at repositioning the club for greater efficiency, professionalism and competitive performance in the Nigeria Women’s Football League.
She stated that a new management and technical crew, as well as fresh players, would be recruited to restore the club’s status as a leading force in Nigeria’s women’s football.
