Super Falcons Head Coach, Thomas Dennerby yesterday named 27 players, including Barcelona star, Asisat Oshoala and China-based Onome Ebi, in his team for the final preparations ahead of the FIFA Women World Cup, which will hold in France from June 7 to July 7, 2019. Also in the team are Ngozi Okobi and Desire Oparanozie.

The Super Falcons will camp in Austria from where they will play some test games before moving to France a few days before the competition kicks off.

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) said yesterday that four players would be dropped from the team to get Super Falcons’ final list of 23 towards the end of the two-week camping in Austria.

NFF’s Head of Women Football, Ruth David told thenff.com yesterday that the African champions would depart from Abuja for Austria on May 20 for the Avita Resort in Bad Tatzmannsdorf – the same facility where the Super Eagles had their final camping programme just before the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.

“The Super Falcons will depart from Austria on June 4 direct to Reims, where they open their World Cup campaign against Norway on June 8,” the NFF said.

The other players in the team are Tochukwu Oluehi, Josephine Chukwunonye, Osinachi Ohale, Ngozi Ebere, Rita Chikwelu, Halimatu Ayinde and Francisca Ordega. They all played key roles in the Super Falcons’ ninth continental triumph in Ghana late last year.

Also included in the group is Uchenna Kanu, who has shown tremendous firepower at the ongoing WAFU Women’s Cup in Abidjan with eight goals in two matches, as well as home-based professionals, Amarachi Okoronkwo, Evelyn Nwabuoku, Chidinma Okeke and Chiamaka Nnadozie.
