Eguavoen meets NFF on Nations Cup plans, other issues today
Super Eagles Interim Manager, Augustine Eguaveon, will have his first meeting with the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) today in Abuja.
The coach, who described his appointment as Nigeria’s acting head coach on Sunday as a big call to duty, which must be answered successfully, is expected to discuss his plans for the forthcoming African Cup of Nations in Cameroun among other issues.
Eguaveon told The Guardian, yesterday, that assembling a formidable squad that would make football-loving Nigerians proud at the Nations Cup is the major task facing the technical crew, adding that he will do his best to justify his appointment.
Eguavoen, however, pleaded with Nigerians to have faith in the Super Eagles, while promising that the team will be prepared the best possible way for the African Cup of Nations.
“I am delighted to take charge of the Super Eagles as interim coach. I am on a rescue mission, which is a big challenge and a tough job for me. But I am happy because the assistants appointed to work with me are exposed and experienced coaches.
“Right now, I am in Uyo to watch a U-17 youth football tournament, but I will meet with the NFF tomorrow (Today) in Abuja to discuss preparations for the AFCON,” he said.
Eguavoen disclosed that the team list for the AFCON and other information on the Eagles’ camping site would be announced soon.
