It’s that time of the year, once again, when golf enthusiasts and corporate heavyweights across Nigeria gear up for a thrilling display of skill, legacy, and sportsmanship. The event is the Elizabeth Wuraola Ojo Toyota Golf Tournament (EWOTGT), which, according to Toyota (Nigeria) Limited (TNL), will hold on November 13 and 14, 2026.
The prestigious yearly competition will once again return to the world-class greens of the Smokin Hills Golf Resort in Ilara-Mokin, Ondo State, promising an elevated experience for both players and spectators.
The tournament honours the memory and enduring legacy of the late Chief (Mrs.) Elizabeth Wuraola Ojo, a matriarch celebrated for her remarkable virtues, integrity, and dedication to inspiring excellence—particularly among women in sports.
Speaking ahead of the event, the Managing Director of Toyota (Nigeria) Limited, Mr. Kunle Ade-Ojo, emphasised that the event goes far beyond the boundaries of sport.
“The Elizabeth Wuraola Ojo Toyota Golf Tournament is more than a sporting event — it is a celebration of legacy, integrity, and enduring values,” Ade-Ojo said. “This year’s edition promises an unforgettable experience for all participants and guests.”
Adding to the excitement, a grand prize of N10 million has been earmarked for any golfer, who achieves a legendary hole-in-one, underscoring Toyota’s commitment to raising the stakes and rewarding athletic brilliance.
The tournament will feature a shotgun start format, ensuring a dynamic, synchronized kickoff as golfers tee off simultaneously across designated holes.
The organisers said that professional golfers from across the country will open the tournament on Friday, November 13, taking on the challenging landscape of the Smokin Hills course.
Saturday, November 14 (7:00 a.m.) is set out for the amateur male and female golfers to showcase their talents, with the gala night and prize presentation taking the stage immediately after at a glamorous awards dinner celebrating the tournament winners and distinguished guests.
A key highlight of the closing gala will be the presentation of the “Amiable Woman of the Tournament” award.
Instituted specifically in memory of Chief (Mrs.) Elizabeth Wuraola Ojo, the accolade recognizes outstanding sportsmanship and aims to drive greater female participation in the sport.
“This award is symbolic of the values she stood for and serves to encourage more women to participate in and contribute to the game of golf,” Ade-Ojo noted, assuring attendees of an impressive package of rewards and activities throughout the weekend.
In addition to the action on the fairway, Toyota (Nigeria) Limited will showcase a fleet of its latest vehicle models at the resort, offering attendees an exclusive, up-close look at the brand’s cutting-edge technology, craftsmanship, and innovation.
