Enugu Rangers to face depleted Zesco United squad

As they get ready to face Nigerian giants, Enugu Rangers, Zesco United have been dealt a huge blow following a list of injuries. Team Ya Ziko head into the their 2017 CAF Confederation Cup away clash against Enugu Rangers with a crippled squad.

As they get ready to face Nigerian giants, Enugu Rangers, Zesco United have been dealt a huge blow following a list of injuries. Team Ya Ziko head into the their 2017 CAF Confederation Cup away clash against Enugu Rangers with a crippled squad.

Four key players are set to miss the clash as they are on the road to Nigeria this weekend honour their pre-group stage, first leg match on April 8. Coach Zlatko Krmpotic will be without strikers Idris Mbombo and Jackson Mwanza, including midfielder Misheck Chaila and defender Simon Silwimba.

“We have Jackson, Simon and Chaila who are all injured,” Krmpotic is quoted by the SuperSport website. “Mbombo is also suspended but, this is football we must prepare other players to play in Nigeria.”

Silwimba has been sidelined since March 10 after sustaining a groin injury in Zesco’s 2-0 home win over Le Messager Ngozi of Burundi during the two sides’ 2017 CAF Confederation Cup first round fixture in Ndola.

Meanwhile, Chaila has a right knee injury that he got at the Zambia training camp in Lusaka prior to Chipolopolo’s away friendly against Zimbabwe in Harare last month. Both players also missed Zesco’s 2017 Charity Shield semi-final and final wins while forward, Mwanza is out with a swollen ankle

Furthermore, Mbombo is out suspended after accumulating two yellow cards he picked up at home and away against Ngozi in the Confederation Cup.
