FIFA are poised to launch an investigation into Argentina’s conduct following the World Cup final, reports express.co.uk.  
 
Spain emerged as the winner in the United States, but its celebrations were disrupted by violent scenes on Sunday.
 
Ferran Torres’ goal in extra time earned the European side their second World Cup win, but Argentina’s stars engaged in unsavoury actions, with players resorting to violence after the game had finished.

Leandro Paredes was shown a red card after the full-time whistle, having grabbed Spain defender Eric Garcia by the throat before kicking him to the ground.
 
The Argentina midfielder then became embroiled in a heated altercation with Gavi, appearing to take a swipe at his head before shoving him to the floor. Paredes was not alone in his actions as Argentina defender Nahuel Molina took a swing at Rodri.
 
Molina appeared to punch Rodri in the stomach, prompting an incensed reaction from the Manchester City star, who charged over to confront him. A livid Nicolas Otamendi then waded in to exchange words with Rodri regarding comments made by him and Aymeric Laporte before the match concerning the referee.  
  
This was followed by Argentina coach Roberto Ayala allegedly throwing a punch at Spain forward Dani Olmo, with Garcia subsequently stepping in to separate the pair.
 
In response to the Argentinian action, FIFA have launched a formal investigation, according to Sky Sports.
 
Former Newcastle United striker Alan Shearer tore into La Seleccion as “terrible” while co-commentating for the BBC.
 
“Paredes threw two or three haymakers into someone’s face. He went for them,” Shearer said. “There is no place or space for that.
 
“We know how much it means to them, and we know how much it hurts to lose, but there is a way to lose.

Too many times we have seen that from Argentina. The reaction after the final whistle is terrible.”
 
Ex-Manchester City goalkeeper Joe Hart delivered a forthright judgment on Argentina’s antics while on punditry duty for the BBC.
 
“There was one man on the pitch who did have class, and that was Lionel Messi, who shook hands with every one of those Spanish players,” he said.
 
“The game’s done. They could have absolutely no complaints about what happened today. Disgusting behaviour.”
 
Former Manchester United right-back Gary Neville, meanwhile, was unequivocal in his assessment on ITV.
 
“It’s a disgrace,” Neville said. “I love the competitiveness of the Argentines, fighting and scrapping for their lives. Messi has propped them up, but it’s been a disgrace the last few games.”
