Fireworks as RIGAN Games open in grand style

It was the opening day of the 16th Research Institute Games (RIGAN) tagged OTA2019, which kicked off with a very colourful ceremony at the Nigerian Building and Road Research Institute sports ground.

The biennial games were declared open by the Minister of Science and Technology, Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu, who commended the various participating institutions for being part of the games.

He charged them to redouble their efforts in finding solutions to the myriad of problems bedevilling the country through research.

The high point of the occasion was the lighting of the games’ torch and parade by participating teams. 
Meanwhile, Raw Material and Research and Development Council, Abuja defeated the host institute 3-1 in a highly entertaining opening match of the football event. 
Over 20 research and development institutions from across the country are taking part in the weeklong sports fiesta.
