Arsenal scored once in each half to secure a 2–1 victory over Chelsea in their English Premier League (English Premier League) clash at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday.

The London derby was feisty and keenly contested, with set pieces proving decisive. William Saliba and Jurrien Timber were on target for Arsenal, both scoring from corner kicks, while Chelsea’s only goal came via an own goal by Piero Hincape.

Chelsea goalkeeper Roberto Sánchez endured a nervy outing, gifting Arsenal possession while attempting to play out from the back, though the hosts failed to capitalise. At the other end, Sánchez was forced into a sharp recovery after nearly being caught out by a long-range effort.

Arsenal took the lead in the 21st minute, once again showcasing their strength from set pieces. Gabriel’s header from a corner was redirected goalwards by Saliba, with the ball deflecting off a Chelsea player before crossing the line.

Chelsea found an equaliser two minutes into first-half stoppage time when Hincape inadvertently headed Reece James’ delivery into his own net, sending both teams into the break level at 1–1.

The visitors started the second half brightly and went close through Enzo Fernández’s long-range strike and João Pedro’s header from another corner. Arsenal, however, regained control and restored their lead when Timber powered home a header from yet another corner kick.

Chelsea’s task became more difficult after Pedro Neto was shown his second yellow card, earning the Blues their seventh red card of the campaign. Arsenal comfortably saw out the remainder of the match to claim all three points.

The win moves Arsenal to 64 points from 29 matches, five clear of second-placed Manchester City, who have a game in hand. Chelsea remain sixth on the table.

Earlier on Sunday, Alex Iwobi scored the decisive goal as Fulham defeated Tottenham Hotspur 2–1 at Craven Cottage. The 29-year-old struck first time from outside the penalty area, firing a low effort into the far corner to double Fulham’s lead and deepen Spurs’ relegation concerns.
