Bayer Leverkusen and Nigerian striker Victor Boniface has been nominated for the Bundesliga Rookie of the Month award for September.

Organisers of the German topflight, Bundesliga, announced the three-man nominees on their X handle.

Boniface will be up against RB Leipzig’s Xavi Simons and Maximilian Beier of Hoffenheim.

The winner of the Bundesliga September Rookie of the Month award will be decided by fans vote.

Boniface took home the Rookie of the Month crown for August and can now claim the award for a second straight month.

The former Union Saint-Gilloise striker had 25 shots on goal in September, which was by far the most of any player in the division.

All four Boniface goals in September came at home, bagging braces in both the 4-1 win over Darmstadt and 5-1 victory against Heidenheim.

Also, he provided an assist for Jonas Hofmann in the win against Darmstadt.

He is included in the Super Eagles squad that will take on Saudi Arabia and Mozambique in a doubleheader of international friendly games in Portugal.

The game against Saudi Arabia comes up on Friday, 13 October while the game against Mozambique is billed for Monday, 16 October, 2023.
