Luba FC face in-form Sporting Lagos in state FA Cup Round of 36 clash

Luba FC .

Luba FC will take on Sporting Lagos on Wednesday, April 1, 2026, in a decisive Round of 36 fixture of the 2025/2026 Lagos State FA Cup.

The tie comes against the backdrop of strong momentum for both sides, setting up what promises to be one of the standout fixtures of the round.

Luba FC head into the encounter with a balanced run of results, two wins, two draws, and two losses in their last six matches. The side’s attacking strength was emphatically on display in a 10–0 demolition of Glorious FC, while draws against Ighalo FA and Stowe underlined their competitiveness in tighter contests. Losses to Seamoriow FC and Ikorodu City, however, highlighted areas the team will be keen to tighten as they approach the knockout tie.

Captain Otuyemi Tunde and Agboola Olatidoye remain key figures for Luba FC, with both players leading the scoring charts with three goals each. Otuyemi, operating from centre-back, continues to influence proceedings at both ends of the pitch, providing leadership as well as crucial goals.

Their opponents, Sporting Lagos, arrive in formidable form. They recently recorded a commanding 5–1 away victory over Stormers in a Nigeria National League (NNL) fixture, reinforcing their push for promotion to the Nigeria Premier Football League.

Speaking ahead of the encounter, Luba FC’s coach, Osu Daniel, struck a composed but confident tone.

“We respect Sporting Lagos FA, they’re one of the top sides in Lagos,” he said. “But we have prepared well, and we’re focused on our own game. We expect a competitive match, and we’re ready to give our best and make a statement.”

With progression to the next round at stake, Wednesday’s encounter offers Luba FC another opportunity to assert themselves against top-level opposition and continue their push in Lagos’ premier knockout competition.
