NSC rolls out activities to welcome victorious super falcons

NSC wades into Super Eagles protest in Morocco

The National Sports Commission (NSC) has lined up a series of activities to welcome Nigeria’s Super Falcons who return to the country today after winning the 2025 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco.

The team, along with top officials of the NSC and other government representatives, is expected to arrive at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja by 12 noon.

To mark the victory, the players will embark on a city tour with the WAFCON trophy through major streets in Abuja. The tour will end at the Presidential Villa, where the team will be received by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The celebrations will continue later in the evening with a live concert at the Eagles Square from 7pm. Several Nigerian artistes and entertainers are scheduled to perform at the event.

The Super Falcons defeated the host nation Morocco 3-2 in the final to secure Nigeria’s 10th WAFCON title.
The final, played in front of a packed stadium in Rabat, saw Nigeria come from behind to defeat Morocco 3-2 and clinch their 10th WAFCON title.

Despite a poor first half where Morocco capitalised on defensive lapses to score twice, the Falcons regrouped at the break and came out fighting.

The Falcons had billed their campaign as Mission X and have achieved their target, reclaiming the title they last won in 2018 and preserving their 100% record in Wafcon finals.

Having won the trophy, they picked up $1m in prize money, which has been doubled since the last edition, and are now the first side to lift the new look Wafcon trophy.
