Warri Wolves, Delta Queens may get new management this week

The Director General of Delta Sports Commission, Festus Ohwojero, has said that the state will constitute new management teams for Warri Wolves FC and Delta Queens FC before the end of the month.

While Warri Wolves operate in the oil city of Warri, Delta Queens FC has Asaba, the state capital, as their base.
The state government dissolved the management of both teams recently citing “poor results.”

Ohwojero said the new management would comprise people with proven track records in the Nigerian football industry, saying the government wants people that will take the clubs to higher positions.

He said that Warri Wolves have not played in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) for over six years, adding that every football lover in the state desires to see their team back in the elite division.

Ohwojero stated that Delta Queens, which won the Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) last year after an 11-year wait, will also get a new management with the mandate to ensure that the team qualifies for the Super Six at the end of the forthcoming season and also compete for the league title.

The Guardian learnt that former national women’s U-20 team coach, Peter Dedevbo, may return as the new coach of Delta Queens FC.
