Super Eagles striker Akor Adams has revealed his reason for leaving Sevilla of Spain for newly-promoted Serie A club, Venezia FC.

In a statement on Wednesday, Venezia announced the permanent acquisition of Adams from Spanish La Liga side, Sevilla.

Adams, born in 2000, has put pen to paper on a contract with the orange and green club until June 30, 2030.

Reacting following the announcement of his transfer to Venezia, the Nigerian international forward spoke to the official website of the Serie A club.

“I chose to come here because I see the extraordinary project Venezia is building, and I want to contribute to writing a new chapter in its history,” Adams said.

“I want to tell the fans that what they manage to create in such a special place is truly incredible. The energy and passion they convey are unique. I have seen so many videos of the matches and I have been impressed by their constant support.

“I believe this team deserves to be in the Serie A. It belongs in that league, also because of the affection and support the fans have always shown over the years. They are loyal, passionate, and never fail to support us. I am proud to be a part of all this.”

Having developed as a footballer in the Jamba Academy youth academy, the Nigerian striker made his professional debut in 2018 with Sogndal IL in Norway, where he made 56 appearances, scoring 16 goals and providing six assists.

In the 2021/22 season, he moved to Lillestrøm SK, where he made 50 appearances, scoring 28 goals and providing seven assists.

Adams also made one appearance in the UEFA Europa Conference League qualifying round and scored two goals in one match for the second team.

In the summer of 2023, he joined Montpellier HSC in France, where he scored 13 goals and provided five assists in 49 appearances.

In January 2025, Adams moved to Sevilla, where he finished his spell with 10 goals and four assists in 37 matches.

He made two appearances for the Nigerian Under 20s and 15 appearances for the senior national team, scoring six goals.
