If you are familiar with the fitness scene in Nigeria, then Wisdom Azubuike is no stranger to your screen, and as is usual with celebrities and internet sensations, hearing their “Government names” can be confusing and often hilarious.

Wisdom Azubuike is a 26-year-old Bodybuilder who hails from Eastern Nigeria, Anambra state, he’s a budding entrepreneur with a handful of successful businesses to his name.

While his success in every other facet of his life is amazing, the success he has achieved in the gym while working on his body is the driving force that propels him to take on the world.

He’s a well-established digital creator who enjoys creating content that inspires people to hit the gym, eat healthy, and lose weight. He also provides one-on-one coaching where he shares the expansive knowledge he has garnered over the years with his clients, to help them better themselves.

When asked what inspired him to become a “Gym Rat”, Wisdom took us down memory lane and explained how he was often made fun of in university for his big size, and called several names often reserved for fat people. He despised how those comments and jokes made him feel and ultimately decided to go on a weight loss journey to become healthy and be more comfortable in his own body.

Speaking on his experience, Azubuike said, “During the lockdown of 2020 I decided to take matters into my own hands and lose some weight. I started by going on morning runs and gradually built the confidence to step into the gym, it was during this journey of self-love that I discovered Bodybuilding”. It is evident now that this singular decision changed the trajectory and pattern of his life for the better. He also stated that his initial goal wasn’t to be a Bodybuilder, he just wanted to lose some weight,

On what inspired him and his early influences in Bodybuilding, he cited the story of Erin Banks, another Bodybuilder who was also fat before emerging at the pinnacle of Bodybuilding by winning the converted Mr Olympia award.

The rapid changes that occurred in his body during this journey and the fact that he was in control and could dictate how his body should look was another major inspiration for Mr Azubuike.

The gym started out as an avenue to lead a healthier life and also build a physique he could be proud of, looking at the myriads of muscles wrapped around Mr Azubuike’s frame one would agree he has been able to achieve his goals and much more.

When you get to the top of a big mountain, you find a bigger one to climb and this is exactly why Azubuike is preparing for his first-ever bodybuilding competition.

He would be participating in 2-3 different competitions between September and October of 2024, across various countries.

Mr. Azubuike believes that the self-discipline and determination applied to his training have also helped in every other aspect of his life and he is full of hopes that all the hard work he has put in leading up to this moment, will lead to success as he dips his proverbial toe in the pool that is professional bodybuilding.
