FT Cyclecare lifts athlete attacked by robbers
FT Cyclecare has come to the financial aid of Fabian John, one of Team Nigeria’s cyclists attached by hoodlums last month at Isolo area of Lagos State. The outfit presented a cheque of N100,000 to John to cover his medical bills and other logistics he needs to get back to full fitness.
John, a Cross River State athlete, was attacked by hoodlums while riding his bicycle on July 10, 2021. He was macheted and disposed of his valuables, including his bicycle. He suffered various degrees of injury.
John has since been in the hospital where he is receiving treatment and recovering from the injuries sustained from the incident.
Speaking on the gesture, Chairman, FT Cycle Care, Femi Thomas, said helping John with N100, 000 donation is the organisation’s little support to help the cyclist recover and return to normal activities as a cyclist.
“We cannot fold our hands and watch this young man go through this pain alone… that is why we decided to do what we can to help,” he said.
Thomas called on Lagos State government to put in place measures to curb the current state of insecurity in the state, adding that many cyclists have been attacked in the past.
He also advised the citizens of the state to be more security conscious while carrying out their day-to-day activities.
