The second Gbolahan Olusegun Yishawu Cricket League will commence on Independence Day, October 1, 2022, at the Cricket Oval, Tafawa Balewa Square, Lagos and other designated centres across the state.

The second Gbolahan Olusegun Yishawu Cricket League will commence on Independence Day, October 1, 2022, at the Cricket Oval, Tafawa Balewa Square, Lagos and other designated centres across the state.

According to the organisers of the event, the tourney, bet shop which is also tagged ‘Cricket Club Committee League, will future nine teams in Division One and 12 teams in Division Two.

Speaking at the unveiling of the championship at the weekend, Nigeria Cricket Federation (NCF) President, Uyi Akpata, said the championship, which has over the years developed and bet prediction site exposed young players in the sport, has been widely recognised by the International Cricket Committee( ICC).

“The Club Committee tournament, sponsored by Yishawu has helped to create more awareness of cricket in Nigeria.

“The Federation has been putting effort to make Nigeria one of the best cricket playing nations in Africa and globally. With the organisation of the tournament, sports betting online which is ranked among the best championships in Africa, the country will continue to churn out more talents in different age grades,” he said.

Chairman of the Cricket Club Committee league, premier league odds Akin Denton, disclosed that more clubs registered for this year’s event, adding, “we are delighted that the league will witness an unprecedented upsurge in the number of new entrants into division two.

“There will be six new teams playing in the league for the first time. This development means games will increase in the league.

“Matches will be played on three grounds, bet odds TBS Cricket Oval, the University of Lagos cricket pitch and CMS Grammar School, Bariga pitch.

“Various games will be streamed online for viewers worldwide to watch and we thank Yishawu for sponsoring the event.”

Lagos State Cricket Association Chairman, Kofi Sagoe, assured participants at the unveiling of the league that the association will continue to be at the forefront of cricket development in Nigeria.

The chairman, through Sagoe Foundation, later donated balls for all the matches in the league.

Also speaking at the event, visiting ICC General Manager (Development), William Glenwright, commended NCF on their effort in developing the sport in the country.

He assured that ICC would not relent in supporting the NCF to create more awareness of cricket in Nigeria.

The sponsor of the league, Yishawu, also promised to continue supporting sports development in Nigeria.

He urged well-meaning Nigerians to contribute their quota in sponsoring sporting activities, saying that government alone cannot reach out to every aspect of society.

Among the teams listed for the league are Lagos Colts, Lagos Rangers, United, MRI Warriors, LSTK and Mondial Boys.
