Great player, Osimhen more suitable for Chelsea, not Man United – Scholes
Former Manchester United midfielder, Paul Scholes has labelled Victor Osimhen a great player while also insisting that the Nigerian attacking sensation is more suited for Chelsea.
Meanwhile, Harry Kane continues to be heavily linked with a switch to Man United with the England captain believed to be considering his future at Tottenham Hotspur.
Osimhen is another player to be heavily linked with a switch to Old Trafford with the 24-year-old enjoying a strong campaign at Napoli, scoring 23 goals and registering five assists in 28 appearances.
The 24-year-old has been in excellent form for in the Champions League, scoring four goals in five outings with the Blues reaching the quarter-finals of the competition where they will take on AC Milan.
However, Scholes has doubted whether his former club will be able to sign Kane while also claiming that Osimhen would be “more suited for Chelsea” with the Englishman picking out Lautaro Martinez as the ideal acquisition.
“I don’t think Kane will leave Tottenham. I think it’s difficult to deal with Dan Levy. I think [Victor] Osimhen is a great player, but I think he is more suited for Chelsea.
“I think Lautaro Martinez from Inter Milan would suit [Erik] ten Hag’s style of play,” Scholes told BT Sport.
On the other hand, Osimhen himself refused to rule out a summer move to Man United when questioned on alleged interest from the 20-time English champions.
There is currently a host of speculation surrounding the forward’s future with Man United said to be interested in signing him while Chelsea and Arsenal have also been linked with his services.
Osimhen refused to rule out a move to Old Trafford when questioned on the interest, revealing that he will be sitting down with Napoli this summer to discuss his future.
“I don’t know what the future holds. I think I’m on the right track. At the end of the season, I will sit down with my agents and discuss everything,” Osimhen told Sport1.
“I will also be in talks with the club. I am incredibly grateful to Napoli. We will find a good solution together.”
Osimhen arrived at Napoli from Lille in September 2020 and he has represented his current side on 90 occasions in all competitions, scoring 51 goals and contributing 14 assists in the process.
