How Kamaru Usman’s hacked Twitter account threatened McGregor’s wife
McGregor, who made his comeback in Las Vegas after 15 months out of the ring, destroyed Donald ‘Cowboy’ Cerrone inside 40 seconds on the night.
Yet the event was somewhat overshadowed by the explicit messages sent from Usman’s account.
The Twitter posts said: ‘Conor McGregor is an Irish p****,’ while another one tweet read. ‘N*****, I will f*** your wife while slapping the f*** outta you punk.’
A third Tweet appeared to show two bank accounts, along with the caption: ‘Tweeting his bank password when I hit 1k followers.’
Ali Abdelaziz confirmed: ‘Guys, Kamaru Usman’s Twitter account has been hacked. UFC is working on getting it back.’
Usman, the current UFC Welterweight champion, attended the fight in Las Vegas and watched from ringside.
However, in his post-fight press conference, McGregor expressed scepticism over the source of the tweets.
He said: ‘I’d be sceptical of that because one came through early and it had all the hallmarks of that little f****** weasel, Ali [Abdelaziz, Usman’s manager].
“They give him control of the accounts. He had Frankie’s [Edgar] account. He had Henry’s [Cejudo] account. This has been going on for a while. He gets it then writes something through their thing.
“I’ve been in discussions with some of these athletes that come on board and whatever, help them out and that. And I know exactly what happened.
“The way the first one was written, I knew exactly where it came from. And then all of a sudden a little bit heavier ones,’ McGregor said.
“And then it became a hack job, so whatever. I don’t know what the f*** is going on tonight. It was a bit of a weird night, wasn’t it? The two boys [Usman and Jorge Masvidal] doing mad stuff. All the best to them.’
