Heartland FC Coach, Fidelis Ilechukwu has lauded Stephen Odey after the forward netted his maiden UEFA Champions League goal, reports footballlive.ng.

Odey, who came into limelight under the tutelage of Ilechukwu back in their days at the NPFL side MFM FC, was on target for KRC Genk on Wednesday.

The 21-year-old replaced compatriot Paul Onuachu in the second-half and scored his side’s only goal against visiting European Champions Liverpool at the Luminus Arena.

While reacting to the exploits of the player on the social media, Ilechukwu described Odey as ‘Star Boy’ and also urged him to build on the moral boosting performance for the future.

After making his mark in the NPFL, Odey left MFM for FC Zurich, where he caught the attention of current various clubs with his performances.

Odey then joined Genk last the summer transfer window, after the Felice Mazzu’s side triggered his release clause.
