
Italy defender Mattia De Sciglio underwent right knee surgery on Tuesday after tearing a ligament during last week’s Serie A win over Lecce, his club Juventus confirmed.

“This morning Mattia De Sciglio underwent reconstruction surgery on the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee,” the Turin side said in a statement.
“The player will begin rehabilitation in the coming days.”

Juventus did not say for how long De Sciglio, 30, will be out but it will be months before he is back in action.
De Sciglio has won three Serie A titles since signing for Juventus in 2017 and has played 40 times for Italy.
