Ibom Angels also qualify
Enugu Rangers yesterday inched closer to their first Federation Cup title since 1983 when they defeated Nasarawa United 4-2 in Kano to set up a final match against Kano Pillars. Pillars defeated neighbours, Katsina United 4-1 on penalties in the second semifinal at the Agege Stadium, Lagos, to set up the grand final in Asaba.

Rangers seemed out of sorts in the first half of the match, trailing 0-2 to Nasarawa, but the Flying Antelopes rose to the occasion, leveled scores and went on to score two more goals to carry the day.

At the Agege Stadium, Lagos, Kano Pillars defeated Katsina United 4 – 1 on penalties after the match ended 2 – 2 in regulation time.

In the women’s category, Ibom Angels defeated Edo Queens 2 – 0 in the first semifinal game in Owerri. They will meet either Rivers Angels or Bayelsa Queens, who play the second semifinal match tomorrow in Enugu.

The Aiteo Cup men’s final is billed for Asaba on October 24, a day after the women’s final at the Samson Siasia stadium Yenagoa.
