Izilien tasks Falcons to be attack-minded against Germany
Former Super Falcons coach, Godwin Izilien has advised the senior women national team to be more attack minded and tactically disciplined when they battle Germany today in the round of 16 matches of the ongoing 2019 FIFA Women World Cup in France.
Izilien, who commended the team for coming this far in the championship, charged the Falcons to emulate the way Cameroon came out strong in their last group game to get the required result to book a place in the next round of the World Cup.
He stressed that the Falcons needed to raise the standard of their game to confront the German women team that are tactically organised.
The coach also cautioned the girls not to be careless with their passes against Germany, as it was one of the lapses that gave France the edge to dominate the Nigerian side in the last group game of the World Cup.
“Falcons are giving their best in the World Cup and I commend them for getting to the round of 16. But one thing that is not going well in the team is lack of enough aggression on the players.
“The team should be tactically organised offensively and defensively. This is what Cameroon used to qualify this far.
“The Falcons need to work hard to make a statement in the 2019 World Cup to reflect the quality of preparations giving to them by NFF.
“The girls need to be hungry for victory against Germany. The Falcons should play as a team,” he said.
