Nigerian defender Jeremiah Udoka Onyewuchi has completed his move to Polish club Orawa Jabłonka, marking another step in the young centre-back’s ambition to establish himself in European football.

The 20-year-old defender, born on May 21, 2006, joins the Polish side after developing his game at Calgary Football Academy in Abuja, where he was nurtured through the academy’s development structure.

Primarily a centre-back, Onyewuchi can also operate at right-back, giving him the versatility to contribute in different defensive roles. Standing at 1.85 metres, he combines physical presence with defensive awareness, recovery speed, tackling ability and composure under pressure.

Before completing his move to Poland, Onyewuchi represented Abuja-based Calgary Football Academy and featured for EFCC FC in Division Two during the 2024 season.

His move to Europe was facilitated by JK Sports Management, owned by football agent Jeremiah Ogaga Ayejegare, whose work has focused on creating pathways for Nigerian players seeking professional opportunities in Europe.

Ogaga, a Poland-based FIFA-licensed football agent, has been involved in the representation and career development of Nigerian football talents. His approach, according to previous profiles of his work, centres not only on securing opportunities for players but also on providing career guidance and positioning them for sustainable progression.

The move also continues a developing relationship between Calgary Football Academy and JK Sports Management, with the academy having previously produced players who went on to pursue professional opportunities abroad.

One example is Nigerian defender Brendan Ifeanyi Asomugha, who secured his first professional contract with Lithuanian club FK Sveikata in 2025.

For Onyewuchi, the move to Orawa Jabłonka represents the beginning of a new chapter and an opportunity to continue his development within the European football environment.

“Joining Orawa Jabłonka is an important step in my career and something I have worked very hard for. I am grateful to Calgary Football Academy for the foundation they gave me and to JK Sports Management and Jeremiah Ogaga for believing in me and helping me reach this stage,” he said.

“I know this is only the beginning, and I am ready to work hard, learn and give my best for the club.”

Ogaga welcomed the defender’s move, describing it as another stage in a carefully planned development process.

“Jeremiah is a player with good potential, versatility and the right attitude to continue developing. We have been deliberate about finding the right environment for his next stage, and Orawa Jabłonka provides him with an opportunity to experience European football and continue his progression,” he said.

“We are pleased with this step, but more importantly, we want him to understand that this is the beginning of the journey, not the destination.”

The move highlights the growing role of Nigerian football academies in preparing young players for international opportunities, while also underscoring the importance of professional representation in helping emerging talents transition from grassroots and domestic football to the European game.

For Onyewuchi, the immediate objective is to establish himself in Poland, continue improving as a defender and use the opportunity as a platform for greater achievements in European football.
