Kessy is Abeokuta Club’s new Lady Captain
Kessy Agana Erayetan was on Tuesday elected unopposed as the new Lady Captain of Abeokuta Golf Club. Her election to replace Mrs. Ruth Luwoye, who has steered the affairs of the club to its present admirable position, was part of the activities at the club’s annual general meeting (AGM).
Kessy, a Police officer, who plays off handicap 22, has over a decade golfing experience cutting across major golf clubs in the country, including Abuja Golf Club, Jos Golf Club, Kaduna, Benin Golf Club, Asaba Golf Club, Warri, UBTH, Ikoyi Golf Club, Ikeja, Dolphin Golf Club and Port Harcourt. She won the gold medal for Zone Two at the recently held Nigerian Police Games in Anambra State.
The lady golfer in her maiden speech pledged to run an open-arm and all-inclusive office with aim to bind every lady golfers in the club with love to foster good camaraderie and fill every necessary vacuum left by the former occupants of the office.
“My purpose is to bind every lady golfer here with love, just like my South/West LGAN Vice President, Mrs. Chichi Charles Alamu, who is my mentor always says, ‘one love’.
“By God’s grace, I wish to be different from other occupants of this office by filling in the gaps that were left and bringing in new innovation that will move this lady section forward,” she noted.
The Policewoman disclosed that she derives sincerity, honesty and self love from golf, adding that it also helps her to remain healthy, perfectly fit and smart, hence she can’t do without playing the game in a week.
Other members of her executive include Mrs. Oluwakemi Afolabi Monsurat, who is the new Vice Lady Captain, Mrs. Uregi Oriyomi (Secretary) and Mrs. Dele Bayo Osibo, who is the new Treasurer for the lady section of Abeokuta Golf Club.
Previous Lady Caretakers of the Club include Mrs. Mercy Armstrong, Mrs. Bola Cusworth and Busola Ladipo prior to the demise of the late Apagun.
