The organisers of the 2019 edition of the African Freestyle Championship are excited that the decision to decentralize the Nigerian arm of the championship is yielding results with a large turn out of football joggling enthusiasts. They disclosed yesterday that an unprecedented number of prospective participants have sent their entries for the July 22 event billed for Rowe Park Sports Complex in Yaba, Lagos.

The one-day event at the Rowe Park event is a new dimension into the competition, which started two years ago.

The Nigerian leg of the championship is a four-regional event where qualifiers for the final billed for Lagos in September will emerge.

The organisers and rights holders of the competition, Feet & Tricks International, said the South West zone event billed for Rowe Park would signal another chapter in the event.

Feet & Tricks International Chairman, Valentine Ozigbo, said: “We are indeed very happy because so many participants are looking up to the event. It is just a day event but the huge number is now a challenge to us to contend with.

“This shows that we are recording more awareness for Freestyle football in Nigeria and that is a big plus.”

Brownhill Event Centre, Warri is the venue for the South South zone slated for June 30, while the South East zone will hold at the Cubana Lounge, Owerri on July 6 and Abuja Central Park is the host for the Northern zone slated on July 13.

The finals of this year’s championship, which is sanctioned by the World Freestyle Football Association and fully endorsed by WFFA co-founder, Daniel Wood, will take place at the Balmoral Convention Centre, Federal Palace Hotel, Lagos on September 14 and 15.
