Lalong sponsors special golf kitty on 60th birthday
A Triangular golf kitty to mark the 60th birthday of Plateau State’s Governor, Simon Lalong, was held at Rayfield Golf Club, Jos, last weekend, with participants getting such prizes as refrigerators, fans, cups, G–Led TV, chest freezers and umbrellas, among others.
Lalong, who expressed his delight with the event he sponsored, but was organised by the Triangular Golf Kitty in Plateau State, said he has almost moved or relocated to Abuja where he would be playing another handicap there.
He thanked his supporters and Plateau State people for supporting his government for eight years, saying he would always be grateful to them for maiing his regime smooth.
“You have elected representatives and people. You have appointed people. My prayer is that you will have people who will even do more than what I have done. I am now 60 years. I am an elder statesman,” he contended.
On the incoming governor, Lalong said government is a continuum, adding that the next governor should be encouraged to play golf if he is not already a golfer.
“I don’t want people to say oh, you are a governor, you don’t want people to see you. It is bad. I always come here. If I don’t sleep, they will know. If I am a drunkard, they will know. If I chase women, they will know,” he said.
Also speaking at the event, chairman of Plateau State Amateur Golfers’ Association (PAGA), Thaddeus Yilmen, said that history would always remember Lalong and be fair to him for rendering selfless service to God and humanity.
Yilmen predicted that the governor would live a happy, healthy, peaceful, fulfilled and prosperous life.
