Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) broke into the global sponsorship market with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the League Management Company (LMC) and United Kingdom’s leading global sport drinks maker, iPro Sport International Limited (ISIL).
The MoU, which is subject to sign off of national distributors agreements and other regulatory approvals, was executed in London recently with the LMC represented by its Chairman, Shehu Dikko and iProsport represented by the Managing Director, Mr. Thomas Garrad.
NPFL is the first league on the continent to be associated with it and the tenure of the MoU is five years.
According to Dikko: “The possibilities in this deal is huge because we stand to gain incremental fees for every bottle of iProsport drink sold in the Nigerian market and the beauty is that this is coming from a company that is yet to start operations in the country when we have those reaping big profits from the Nigerian market taking out money abroad to fund clubs and create jobs there.”
iProsport will thus become the official supplier of isotonic sport drinks to the NPFL and the 20 NPFL clubs for a fee of £1.5 paid to NPPL for every pack (consisting of 12 bottles) of iProsport drink supplied to the Nigerian market with a target to commence with a shipment of minimum of 213,333 packs which guarantees NPFL a fee of £320, 000 (about N165.4m) when fully activated.
